PM announces special incentive of three basic pays for govt employee
ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister of Pakistan has announced an honorarium equivalent to three basic pays for all the employees of federal government.The prime minister has announced grant special performance incentive for the officers/officials of the federal government as a chairman ECC.A notification in this regard has been issued by the PM House here Friday.The notification reads: “The Prime Minister/Chairman ECC has seen and is pleased to order that all the employees of the federal government shall be given honorarium equivalent to three basic pays for financial year 2017-18. No exception shall be allowed for payment in excess of the ceiling in any case.”The Premier has also desired that for the financial year 2018-19 onwards, a policy may be formulated by the new government after elections 2018.

Naeemul Haq says Imran Khan appreciated him for slapping Daniyal Aziz
Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf leader Naeemul Haq has said party chairman Imran Khan appreciated him for slapping Privatization Minister Daniyal Aziz on a TV show.In a video circulating on social media, the close aide to the PTI chairman said party followers have also applauded him for the act which drew strong criticism."Most of PMLN members respect me. When this man launched personal attacks on Imran Khan, and kept doing it, and lying, and when he called me a thief. My reaction was a natural reaction,which Imran Khan sahib appreciated because this man has been spreading venom for so long," he said.Naeemul Haq slapped Daniyal Aziz following a heated debate in Geo News programme “Aapas Ki Baat”.The show was aired on Tuesday.A day after slapping Aziz, Haq said on Twitter the incident was "an unfortunate spur of the moment reaction".He said that Daniyal Aziz's abusive language against PTI leadership and his attack on Pakistan army are regrettable, unacceptable and condemnable . "I hope he can mend his ways and stop spinning mistruths."

Shaheen Air's local flight operations suspended over failure to pay Federal Excise Duty
KARACHI: The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has asked the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) to suspend local flight operations of Shaheen Air for its failure to pay Federal Excise Duty (FED) amounting to millions of rupees.The FBR has also directed a bank to attach all the accounts of the company with immediate effect.According to a letter sent to the CAA Director General, an amount of Rs 521.397 million is recoverable from the Shaheen Air International Limited under Federal Excise Act 2005 read with Federal Excise Rules 2005. The Federal Excise Duty payable for the month of March, 2018 has not been paid up to due date which is 15-05-2018, the letter said."In exercise of powers conferred under Sub-Rule (c) of Rule-60 of Federal Excise Rules, you are here by required to immediately stop local flight operations of M/s Shaheen Air International Limited till the amount mentioned above is recovered and information in this regard is issued to you by this office," the letter said.Beside suspending the flight operations, the FBR has also directed a bank to attach accounts of the airline with immediate effect and also "keep all Pak Rupees Bank accounts attached" of the Shaheen Air till it pays the government dues. Civilian would have been declared traitor for co-authoring book with Indian counterpart
Veteran PPP leader and former Senate Chairman Mian Raza Rabbani on Friday said if any civilian had co-authored a book with an Indian counterpart he would have been declared a traitor, referring to "The Spy Chronicles: RAW, ISI and The Illusion of Peace" co-authored by former ISI and RAW chiefs.Speaking in the Senate, he said it was surprising to see that on one hand Pak-Indo relations are at their worst and on the other hand opening of a book co-authored by former spymasters of both the countries is taking place.Authored by former ISI chief Assad Durrani and former chief of India's Research and Analysis Wing (RAW) A S Dulat, the book discusses important issues between the two nations.It also sheds light on Kargil Operation, Abbottabad Operation against Osama bin Laden, arrest of Indian spy Kulbhushan Jadhav in Pakistan, Hafiz Saeed, Kashmiri freedom fighter Burhan Wani.

Punjab: Son kills father for not fulfilling promise
CHINIOT: A man on Thursday shot dead his father in Punjab's Chiniot district for not fulfilling his promise.According to Geo News, Riaz Ahmed, 50, a resident of Moza Bakhs Wala had promised his son Karman that he would buy him a tractor for farming. Ahmed, however, could not fulfill his promise after incurring some losses. Chinab Nagar police said the father and son had a fight last night over the issue during which Riaz shot his Riaz Ahmed dead.The suspect managed to flee after reportedly killing his father.The police said they have lodged a case and were conducting raids to arrest the suspect.

KP-FATA merger bill tabled in Senate
ISLAMABAD: The amendment bill seeking merger of Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA) with Khyber Paktunkhwa has been tabled in the Senate for approval, a day after the National Assembly passed it with two-third majority.Senate Chairman Sadiq Sanjrani is presiding over the session during which Law Minister Mehmood Bashir Virk presented the bill.Government allies Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) and Pashtunkhwa Milli Awami Party (PKMAP) continue to oppose the bill in the upper house of the parliament too.According to Geo News, PTI chairman Imran Khan has asked his party lawmakers to ensure their presence in the Senate to help pass the historic amendment.The National Assembly (NA) on Thursday passed the 31st Amendment in the Constitution with two-thirds majority for merger of the Federally Administered Tribal Areas (Fata) and the Provincially Administered Tribal Areas (Pata) with the Khyber Pakhtunkhawa (KP) province.The Constitution (Thirty First Amendment) Bill, 2018 which required 228 votes for passage sailed through with 229 votes while one vote was cast at the time of division of votes. Hence, one vote defined the majority decision in this case. The bill envisages an end to special powers of the President, governor and FCR.

No law can stop treason trial against Musharraf
ISLAMABAD: Former prime minister Nawaz Sharif on Friday said no law can stop trial of Pervez Musharraf, and it would come to its final conclusion one day.Speaking to reporters inside the Accountability Court, he said Musharraf can't get rid of the trial. "Sooner or later it will come to a conclusion," he said.He said the former military ruler was not returning to Pakistan knowing that it was an open and shut case."These sort of cases cannot be withdrawn, it is high treason case. A prime minister is appearing before courts time and again but the dictator is still at large," he said.Nawaz Sharif said Pervez Musharraf used to wave his fist and say it's called power. "At May 12, 2007 rally, he displayed the power that was tested in Karachi on that day. And when he came to the parliament, once again he waved his fist for the last time"."Where is that fist now? The person who is sitting abroad should punch himself instead", he said referring to former president Musharraf.Taking aim at Imran Khan, he said the PTI chief cursed the same parliament from which benefits were reaped. "If this is not a non-parliamentary word, then what they are doing now is licking their own spit.

Social media users laud FATA's merger with KPK
ISLAMABAD: The National Assembly on Thursday approved the much-awaited merger of the Federally Administered Tribal Areas (Fata) with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), the decision lauded by social media users.The vote was also trending on Twitter in Pakistan.The seven tribal districts -- Bajaur, Khyber, Kurram, Mohmand, North Waziristan, Orakzai and South Waziristan -- are home to some 5 million residents.The bill was approved by two third majority as 229 members favored it while 29 lawmakers chose to oppose.The 31st amendment bill was tabled by law minister Bashir Virk during the National Assembly session which was also attended by Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf chairman Imran Khan.In cognizance of the landmark merger, many political activists, celebrities and the public took to Twitter to pile appreciations with #Fatamerger hashtag.
