Imran intervenes to pacify Aamir Liaquat
ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan has asked Aamir Liaquat Husain to meet him after the TV anchor threatened to take the extreme step.In a telephonic discussion, PTI Chief advised Aamir Liaquat to not take any decision in haste as party tickets would be awarded after a review by party's parliamentary board and no single person is authorised to make a decision in this regard.After a clash at PTI's Karachi office between two groups last week, Aamir Liaquat threatened to quit the party and accused Firdous Shamim Naqvi of abusing him. The PTI workers on Saturday vandalised party's Insaf House in Karachi after Imran Khan announced Firdous Naqvi as the candidate for PS-102, one provincial assembly constituencies in the metropolis.According to details, Insaf House — located on Shahrah-e-Faisal — was attacked by the party workers who broke the doors and windows and also wrote graffiti – including 'Karachi president usurping seats of candidates unacceptable in PS 102' and 'Go Arif Alvi go' on the walls of the property.

KP caretaker CM Dost Muhammad Khan takes oath
Peshawar: Justice (redt) Dost Muhammad Khan on Wednesday took oath as caretaker chief minister of Khyber Paktunkhwa.The oath was administered by KP Governor Zafar Iqbal Jhagra at a ceremony held at the Governor's House.Former chief minister Pervez Khattak, Advocate General and senior lawyers attended the swearing in ceremony.The former Supreme Court judge will serve as the interim chief minister till the new government takes charge following the general election scheduled to be held on July 25. Speaking to media after the ceremony, the chief minister said, "we would try to full the mission assigned by the Election Commission of Pakistan and the Constitution".He also vowed to provide maximum relief to the people of the province during the short stint and hold free and fair election on time.

Caretaker PM takes notice of prolonged load-shedding
Islamabad: Caretaker Prime Minister Justice (retired) Nasirul Mulk has taken notice of prolonged load-shedding in the country.Caretaker PM was chairing a high-level meeting power sector in Islamabad Tuesday. The meeting was attended by Secretary Power division, MD PEPCO, MD NTDC and other senior officials.He directed the ministry of power to take steps for curtailment of power sector losses so as to improve overall system efficiency and sustainability of the power sector.The Prime Minister was briefed that as compared to 18753 MW in 2013, the current available generation capacity stands at 28704MW, however, it was informed that due to weather conditions and the resultant reduced water supply, the hydel generation remained at 3090 MW last month as compared to 6333 MW in 2015.Discussing the administrative and technical issues resulting in high system losses and power theft, he expressed concern over the huge losses in various DISCOs.PM Nasirul Mulk said that every effort would be made by the federal government to get the required administrative support from the provincial government towards addressing enforcement issues in the power sector. The Prime Minister further observed that a comprehensive plan should be prepared which would help the next elected government in further improving efficiency and sustainability of the sector. Chief Justice takes notice of acquittal of Khadija Siddiqui case convict
ISLAMABAD: Chief Justice Saqib Nisar has taken notice of the acquittal of a man convicted and jailed for stabbing his classmate and law student Khadija Siddiqui for multiple times.The top judge has summoned the case's record at the apex court's Lahore registry on Sunday (June 10), according to a press release issued by the apex court on Tuesday. Yesterday, Lahore High Court acquitted Shah Hussain of all charges after accepting his appeal against the five-year sentence.The sudden acquittal has shocked the nation. On Twitter, JusticeForKhadija became a top trend as netizens, journalists, celebrities and political figures joined the national outrage and urged the chief justice to take notice about the “miscarriage of justice.”In a message, Khadija Siddiqui expressed her disappointment at the verdict, but said that she would go to the Supreme Court against the acquittal of her attacker.

Chinese Ambassador calls on caretaker PM Nasirul Mulk
Islamabad: Chinese Ambassador Yao Jing called on the caretaker Prime Minister Nasirul Mulk and conveyed his cordial greetings and best wishes from President Xi Jinping and Premier Li Keqiang.The Secretary to Prime Minister Sohail Amir and Foreign Secretary Tehmina Janjua attended the meeting.During the meeting PM Nasirul Mulk said Pakistan and China enjoy deep political mutual trust and the friendly relations between the two countries are deeply rooted in the people. “Pakistan highly values its friendship with China and thanks China for its strong support and assistance for the development of Pakistan.”Pakistan will continue to put its relations with China as the cornerstone of foreign policy. Pakistan highly appreciates the Belt and Road Initiative proposed by President Xi, and has already benefited from the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC). The main responsibility of the caretaker government is to organize a peaceful and fair election within the constitutional framework and maintain political stability, he said and added that within this process, the caretaker government will remain committed to promoting Pakistan-China friendly cooperation, pushing forward CPEC, and making every effort to ensure the security of Chinese citizens working in Pakistan.Ambassador Yao congratulated the PM on his resumption of the office and conveyed congratulations from the Chinese leaders. Yao said that China attaches great importance to China-Pakistan all-weather strategic cooperative partnership. China wishes the caretaker government to successfully organize the election, and hopes that the PM and the caretaker government will continue to promote friendly cooperation between China and Pakistan. China believes that regardless of the outcome of the election, China-Pakistan all-weather strategic partnership will continue to advance.

General Bajwa, Australian CDF discuss security cooperation
Rawalpindi: Air Chief Marshal Mark Binskin, Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) Australia called on General Qamar Javed Bajwa, Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Tuesday at GHQ.According to Inter Services Public Relations, during the meeting, views were exchanged on issues of mutual interest including defence and security cooperation between both the countries and overall regional security situation. The visiting dignitary acknowledged and appreciated Pakistan Army’s sincere efforts and sacrifices in war against terrorism and for stability in the region.Earlier on arrival at GHQ, Australian CDF, laid a floral wreath at Yadgar-e-Shuhada.
