ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Navy Sea King helicopters successfully rescued crew members of sunken Iranian Dhow in North Arabian Sea (NAS). Upon receipt of information about distressed Dhow (AL RAMANI) bearing flag of Islamic Republic of Iran, 11 crew members (fishermen) onboard, Pakistan Navy promptly responded and launched search and rescue operation. Two Pakistan Navy Sea King Helicopters were immediately directed to search, locate and rescue distressed boat crew. Helicopters equipped with search and rescue gear along with para medical staff swiftly reached deep sea area at South West of Karachi in shortest possible time and conducted aerial search for fishing boat. After rigorous search efforts in prevailing rough sea and low visibility conditions at open sea, survivors were located by helicopter aircrew. The operation was amicably augmented by Pakistan Navy Ship NASR, which was already present in NAS on routine patrol. In a very short span of time 11x survivors were recovered onboard Sea King helicopters through winching operation and necessary first aid was rendered. The survived crew members thanked Pakistan Navy for prompt and professional response. The rescue operation lasted for about one and half hour resulting in safe recovery of all Iranian crew members to Pakistan Navy Air Base, PNS MEHRAN at Karachi. Finally, the salvaged Iranian crew was handed over to HQ Pakistan Maritime Security Agency for further handling of the survivors as per the provisions of law. Naval forces have an inherent capability of flexibility and reach which have been clearly manifested/employed during this rescue operation at open sea. Supreme Court orders demolition of advertisement walls in Karachi
KARACHI: Supreme Court has ordered destruction of walls built for the purpose of advertisements and has outlawed future constructions of these as well. The hearing of an appeal filed against the construction of these walls, had taken place in Supreme Court’s Karachi Registry under the headship of Chief Justice of Pakistan. The appellant contended that the construction of these walls around the city especially in the areas of Cantonment Board and FTC are plummeting the beauty of the metropolis.Amidst the hearing Justice Nisar summoned the CEO of Karachi Cantonment Board and was inquisitorial of who built these walls. The CEO informed the court that some of the walls were put up as safety measures, however all advertisement companies have been issued a notice by the Cantonments. In response, Justice Nisar stated that the issuance of a notice would produce futile outcome unless proper action is taken against these companies. The court issued an order that walls built for advertising purposes be demolished in the city, including those at Shahra-e-Faisal; and has also demanded a report about the matter within the next ten days. The construction of these types of walls has been barred in the future as well.

Farooq Sattar to contest from three Karachi constituencies
KARACHI: Veteran MQM leader Farooq Sattar has announced he will be contesting the upcoming election from three constituencies.“I am filing my nomination papers from NA-241, NA-245 and NA-247,” Sattar told media persons.Sattar stated that MQM-P was not being given political space needed to take part in the electoral process.“Around 165 workers are still missing,” he said, adding that the party sealed offices be re-opened. “The practice of cornering us needs to end now.”Criticising the recently sworn-in interim set-up for Sindh, Sattar alleged that most cabinet members were supporters of Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP).“The use of development funds and injustice in delimitation of constituencies is pre-electoral rigging,” he further alleged.

PTI must not suffer because of me, says Ali Muhammad Khan after ticket snub
ISLAMABAD: Former MNA Ali Muhammad Khan who was reportedly denied PTI’s ticket to contest elections from his rural Mardan constituency, has urged his supporters to stand by the party and beat the status quo. In a message on Twitter on Saturday, Ali Muhammad Khan said that PTI must not suffer because of him. “No, we all must vote for PTI. It’s our party, it must not suffer because of me,” Khan tweeted.“Imran Khan has struggled for 22 long years against status quo and this is our last chance to break that status quo & make Imran Khan the prime minister of Pakistan,” he wrote. To reports that he was denied ticket, Khan said that it was a trivial matter. “I am thankful to Almighty God for the love I received from friends, supporters, media and Pakistanis,” he said. Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf on Friday released a list of its candidates for the forthcoming 2018 general elections. PTI’s old and senior leaders and close aide to Imran Khan were denied the party tickets for the election.Besides either, former health and information minister, Shaukat Yousafzai and MNA Ali Mohammad Khan were refused the party tickets due to reasons best known to the party leadership. Some influential people of the party, including ex-chief minister Pervez Khattak, ex-speaker provincial assembly, Assad Qaisar, former education minister Muhammad Atif Khan, former health minister Shahram Khan Tarakai, former housing minister Dr Amjad Ali and former public health minister Shah Farman were given two tickets each to contest the election.Senior PTI leaders told The News that some of the tickets were delayed due to differences among the party workers. In rural Mardan, the PTI leadership delayed issuing party ticket for NA-22, where Ali Mohammad Khan had won previously and was considered a strong contender for the party ticket. However, according to sources, recently some people joined the party and they had strong voices in the PTI provincial and central leadership and wanted them to get the party ticket.“The party has divided into many groups there. Some of the old party people wanted Ali Mohammad Khan to get the PTI ticket, while others wanted to give to former education minister Iftikhar Mohmand who recently joined the party. And then there is another powerful faction which wanted the PTI ticket should go to the son of an elderly politician, Sarfaraz Khan who came to PTI from Pakistan People’s Party a few weeks ago,” explained a senior PTI leader on condition of anonymity.
